This week the children have been visiting the reception class to look at the hatching chicks.
The children all showed a great interest In them showing care when touching them and using our quiet voices around them.
Brooke discovered that if you put your finger against the glass the chicks would try and peck you.

Outdoor Maths
This morning some of the children have been busy using the maths station in the garden, practising counting and using lots of maths language such as "more" and " a lot"
Crystal enjoyed counting the small coloured gems, she emptied them out of the tin then counted them putting them back into the tin one by one " I got 6 " said Crystal.
Hollie positioned large and small coloured gems on the circular log, she pointed to them saying " 1 eye and 1 nose "
Luke decided he was going to match coloured gems to the spots on the circular log. As Luke placed the coloured gems down he counted randomly " 6,7,5"
Lacey placed the coloured gems onto the spots, adult supported Lacey to count how many she had. As the adult pointed to each gem Lacey counted them. " 6" said Lacey.
Martin and Luke each had a tin of gems. Martin said " I've got more" Hayley suggested that Luke and Martin both count how many they each had. Hayley helped Martin count he had 6 and helped Luke count that he also had 6. Luke added " we got six" Hayley praised Martin and Luke saying that they both had the same number.

Marathon May !
We have been jogging and walking as many accumulated miles as we can throughout May for our May Marathon organised through the British Heart Foundation. We have smashed our target of 26.2 Miles ! But this hasn't stopped us we are aiming for lots more 😃
If you would like to support your child's efforts with a small donation please see your child's key worker.
" thumbs up for marathon may" 👍👍
On your marks get set go !!!
Yeah, we did it !
The children have been really enjoying our little jogs and when each child goes around the MUGA 4 times its 1/4 mile ! 👏🏻
The children who finish first have showed great team spirit cheering their friends on at the finish line. We are very proud of the children's effort.
Ladybird Ladybird fly away home 🐞
We found a ladybird in the school playground, Hayley placed it into a container so we could all see it.
Chloe and Hayley counted 6 spots on the ladybird and Chloe decided she was going to make spots using playdough.
After a few minutes watching the ladybird we decided it was time to let her fly away home, we took it into the garden and Shirley helped to release it onto the willow dome.
Some of the children hunted around the garden for more insects, they spotted another !
Some of the children said it was a baby worm it had lots of little legs so Hayley and Amanda suggested it could be a millipede or a centipede.

Hungry Caterpillar Fruit Tasting 🐛🍐🍎🍉🍓
.Last week we read " the very hungry caterpillar" we really enjoyed the story!
This week in yellow group we have tasted a few different fruits from the story book.
Hollie enjoyed this activity she said the plum was hard and cold, Hayley explained it was because the plum wasn't very ripe yet.
Amelia enjoyed fruit tasting, she described the orange as soft and the apple as hard. Amelia noticed the melon had seeds inside and said that the outside had lines on it, Hayley told Amelia it was stripey. Amelia said her favourite fruit was strawberries.
Crystal noticed the melon was red inside. She said it was very heavy. When crystal tasted the watermelon she described it as crunchy.
Mia explored the watermelon. She said it was cold and soft to touch. Mia enjoyed tasting all the fruits and decided the watermelon was her favourite.
Kayden enjoyed fruit tasting he was keen to try the watermelon! Kayden said it was his favourite.
Hayden enjoyed fruit tasting, he was happy to try the strawberries, these were defiantly his favourite. Hayden also tried the plum but when it came to the watermelon he was a little unsure at first. He did try it eventually then decided it wasn't for him.
Brooke was keen to try some of the fruits from the story. She noticed that the top of the watermelon was a circle shape, " it's a circle" she said running her finger around the top. Brooke wasn't really keen on the taste of the watermelon but loved the strawberries she told an adult these were her favourite.
